Ski Area Ownership Finalized

Cody, WY 82414, USA

It is official. Sleeping Giant Ski Area is now privately owned.

A Shoshone National Forest lease is complete between the Yellowstone Recreations Foundation and new owner Nick Piazza, under his Community Mountain LLC. This transfer only applies to the business itself as the land is leased through the Forest Service.

Piazza said the ski area and zipline will work towards zero-loss operations, and he will be making many investments in the mountain to make that goal possible.

Sleeping Giant on 'Party Line' Radio Show

Nick Piazza and Dean Madley went on the October 16th 'Party Line' to give insight on operations this season. Nick outlined his "big push" business model to change as many things as possible before the season starts this year. A lot of these changes, like the construction of the yurt, addition of lights for night skiing, the re-vamping of snowmaking, and digitalization of much of the customer experience are changes we feel are necessary to offering a new, fun Sleeping Giant experience. Listen to the full show now, and stay tuned for more of these spots to continue to put our word out to the community so everyone understands the direction we are heading.

Piazza to Take Financial Risk

Cody, WY 82414, USA

While the paperwork has yet to be finished, Sleeping Giant Ski Area should soon be in new hands, operated by a for-profit company. How much profit? According to the apparent new operator, potentially none.
“We’re not looking to make any kind of financial gain off it. We’d just like it to get as close to zero as we can,” said Nick Piazza.
The international banking entrepreneur, who grew up in Cody, has already pledged hundreds of thousands in improvements and salaries.
